I’ve been wanting to make this cake for a while. I had originally planned it for a colleague’s birthday at then work became extremely busy (like 50 hour weeks busy!)
I hated the smell of the Guinness when I was pouring it out but it just adds a underlining stout flavour underneath, which you might not be able to tell if you didn’t know the ingredients. And even if you didn’t like the thought of being able to taste it then the double cream/soft cheese icing really adds a fresh balance. The texture is very soft with a hint of brownie structure.
Somehow the photos I take never make the food look that appealing!
